Disappointed with Paypal →
I’ve been looking for a credible alternative to PayPal for the longest time because of stories like this. Now that it’s happened to someone I know, the urgency just went up several notches. Know any?

Tonight I’m going to curate the list of people I follow on tumblr. I don’t mean to offend but my criteria may be somewhat odd: If I know you in person, I’m going to unfollow you(it doesn’t mean you can’t follow me of course). I’ll still your stuff from time to time but i’ll do that by going straight to your page or when I actually do go to google reader...

Road to Rediscovery
So many things i’m loving now that I need to make a list. Kakbank A project about supporting microloans through Kiva(for now). I’m hoping it can go beyond just one organisation and I’m trying to see if I can plan a trip around meeting one of the beneficiaries when they complete a loan repayment. Should be fun. :)  Delving into Metafiction..as in writing something Might be a...

I get irritated when people use the term “preso”(to refer to presentations. It reminds me of the the brand Prego(which is great for making spaghetti by the way) and it makes me think that these marketing types are trying to act cool and be all italian and shit. If you wanna say preso to me, you better be prepared to give some good spaghetti.

In the end, it's all the same
I type this from my phone while I’m on the bed because it’s a thought I don’t want to forget. I read with much respect the snippets of the interview with Lee Kuan Yew that the New York Times and International Herald Tribune carried on their site. I still have my political views which don’t agree with some things he did but here is a man who dedicated his entire life to...

On global governance, toilets and a muted hello
Save for the fact that I was really hungry, I think I really enjoyed going for TEDxBiopolis. I liked the talks by Kishore Mabhubani as well as Jack Sim. The former touched on the topic of global governance and how it may be possible. While I thought maybe he was oversimplifying the complexities of politics within the global arena(i’m sure he did that deliberately because he was afterall the...

In the end, I didn’t take any pictures of Hari Raya because everything seemed so fake this year so why bother capturing those moments? I found the term “pretentious hypocrites” to be quite accurate. I really only enjoyed seeing an uncle’s family of mine(thankfully we spent the longest time at his place, although mostly watching Avatar on DVD) and spending time with my...

On rediscovery and reclaiming my country
And so it’s the last day of the fasting month. And while it’s not all smooth sailing, it’s been one that gave a lot of time to reflect. I’m saddened, of course, with what’s happened to my brother but for many of the other problems we’re facing, things seemed to be on the upward trend. The financial problems are slowly getting solved, my other brother seems to be...

Cleaning out my room I found a pack of Conqueror envelopes. I miss writing letters. No one writes letter anymore. Why? why?! Can I write to you?

Malacca
Going to Malacca for U-zyn’s wedding dinner next weekend. Really happy for that guy. He’s come a really long way. In many ways, I’m lucky to have met him because his passion both in tech and poker really inspires me. And passionate people are so hard to come by… Oh, and of course going to Malacca means I’ve got some time to sight-see and revisit memories of the...

[Read] Islam Is the Answer →
“There are good Muslims and bad Muslims, just as there are good Christians and bad Christians. We have been careful to separate Islam and terrorism. But many of us still feel uneasy. If there are lots of good Muslims out there, as we suspect, why aren’t they standing up en masse and condemning the likes of Osama, Hamas and Islamic Jihad?” It’s a question even I have. I...

Action Drivers: What seals the deal
Disparity[A] -> Solution[B] -> Results[C] In understanding the current state of disparity(or need) that exists and the desired state(results) and the establishment that your solution can transport them there, it’s still important to know if they’re willing to take action. Action Drivers:- Their motive for leaving A and moving towards C The urgency to arrive at C The payback...

Loss has a louder voice
“Psychologists have found that our desire to avoid loss is much stronger than our desire for potential gain. One famous study found that most people would much sooner take $500 for sure, than take a fifty-fifty chance of winning $1,000. Likewise, far more people who had $1,000 would take a fifty-fifty chance of losing it all, as opposed to just handing over $500. In our minds, and the minds...

It’s amazing how for the past 4 years I’ve spent most of my time schmoozing with the likes of bankers, VCs and their friends, sons of rich dudes and their spoilt girls(not even girlfriends usually) and then going home to obsess over when i can hit deadlines, answering emails, returning phone calls, meetings, coding and thinking what move to make next and why it will change the world...

Woke up today and while I was just lazing in bed it struck me again that one can only get to know someone if they want/allow you to get to know them. I really shouldn’t waste time trying. Happened with Tiffany and in some ways with Tinkerbell too. I should start seeing that people could just be trying to be polite. Ok too heavy a topic to think about. Must. Think. Of....
